Merry Xmas to all!

I know, I'm not writing much in this period, so one of my "good thoughts" for 2009 could be to update my blog regularly :-)

I'm not much in the "Xmas Rush", both cause I'm working (I had four days off at the beginning of December) and cause I don't like how everyone is trying to spoil my favourite holiday, putting a lot of stress into it.

I don't like especially that kind of anxiety that takes people with presents, and here I will put it clear:

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BUY A PRESENT FOR EVERY PERSON YOU KNOW!!

As for me, I'm not getting anything for anyone, is I see something special for a friend I get it, even in July, I don't need that corporations start with Xmas commercials to feel happiness and want to get in touch with everybody, and then forget everything and start working life again.

If you want to make a present then do it, but don't feel bad if you can't find something for everyone, the worst thing is to arrive on Xmas Eve with half list to fill and start buying "rubbish" cause you can't think of anything else.

Remember that there's plenty of presents that you don't have to "buy" :-)

If something of Xmas can be saved, could be just the "spirit" or "grace", that subtle feeling that something great and beautiful is coming.. but is not a new DVD player :-)

Hope you'll have lots of fun, stay with the persons you love, enjoy this time of the year and stay away from stress and bad news!

BUON NATALE!

Catching Up!

Ciao a tutti!

In this period there's not much new goin' on, but working, and training with my best friend Lele.

We went to train with a great teacher, near Rome, a beautiful place called Avigliano Umbro.
Anthony received us in his home.
I went with Lele and my friend Estevan that came from my hometown.

Anthony manage to explain very difficult things like esotherism in Tai Ji Chuan even to people like me, Lele and Estevan :-)

The place is magic, with a very beautiful countryside, surrounded by woods of ancient trees and crops.. not to mention the food, they have a restaurant in town AWESOME :-)

So now we are training me and Lele, to put on test what we learned.
We catch up anytime we can, or to say better when our work shifts match together.

There's of course a catch, cause Lele is married and father of a wonderful baby, and also of Tango, a crazy 5year old boxer-pit bull cross, so after training we go to the park to walk the dog and play with Giorgia, but is a great fun too.

And both of them can teach something on Tai Ji to everybody :-))

P.S.: after we doubled the security, at the hotel no one reported any strange presence.. much better!

Security Break

In these days we are under attack.

A thing that I didn't say about the hotel is that is located in a suburb called Tor Bella Monaca, which is not really the kind of place that you would choose for your holidays in the city.
We are close to the University, so we serve mainly the people that live and work there.

But Tor Bella Monaca is famous (and avoided by the rest of the Romans) because half of the population is currently under home arrest, and not for stealing apples..

However the situation is not so dangerous as it seems, during the day is really quiet, but after sunset is better to move in groups, or at least this is the advice that I give to the customers.

So few days ago we had a situation, with people coming to the reception telling us that they had a visit from a security guard, asking us to have a look inside the room.
The thing is that our guard was at the main entrance.

If this isn't scaring enough, my mates told me that this isn't the first time that happens, so from last Friday we have doubled the security at the hotel, and everybody is keeping both eyes open, hoping to find any signs of these people.. well, do you think you can enter alone in a 4 stars hotel with a badge?

Obviously we are dealing with a kind of an organization, that for the moment is more organised than us.

And that's all for now, folks!

We are waiting for someone who can deal better than us with this situation: maybe Sherlock Holmes!

Reception!

Tomorrow I'm off for a day, thank goodness, and before goin to sleep I'd like to say to all my friends that everything is goin well, my roommates are really nice, so even if we live in four in the same apartment (but sleeping in single rooms) life is ok.

The hotel job is ok too, my colleagues are friendly, job is busy and very interesting, and I can practice my English, and from few days also Spanish and French (those two with poor results, though).

I'm working on two shift, one from 6 to 15 and the other from 15 to 23, although it's really difficult to go home at the end, cause there's always some trouble to fix, from the customer that lost the wallet to a flood in a room, or whatever a group of crazy tourists can manage to do to a hotel building :-)

The main problem for us though, is to be aware of people that try to leave without paying the room.. remember that we are in Italy! :-)

Maybe I'll write some good story next time, I've got a lot to choose from ;-)

Vacanze Romane

Hey folks!

I promised you a post about my vacation in Rome, so here we are.

Apart the usual hugs 'n' kisses that for us is normal if we don't see each other for few weeks, so try to imagine after a year :)

The news is that I found a job here, so after a month at home I'll move again soon, although this time I don't need the passport :)

I called a friend to catch up with him, and while we were talking he told me that one of his clients was looking for a receptionist for one of his hotels.
After one day I've got job and room in a big apartment near the hotel, so I guess will be kinda of a new adventure for me, I never worked in a hotel before and I'm quite excited to start!

The only down side is that I've already started to promote my courses, both Tai Ji and Self Defense, and some of the people will not be so happy to know that I'm leaving, probably for good..

The thing is that in this period finding a good job it's not that easy, as you may know, and so far I didn't manage to put the bread on the table, so to speak, only with teaching.

So that's all for now, I'll keep you on the subject, and I'll upload some pics of this Roman trip too, as soon as I can find the USB cable! :)
